FLEE

READ: 1 Timothy 6:6-11

Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
2 Timothy 2:22

The Scripture teaches us to flee youthful lusts, fornication and idolatry. Fleeing is a strategy to defeat an enemy whom you cannot fight effectively and directly. Youthful lust is an enemy you must learn to dodge. There is no point in confronting it head-on. It is too powerful to take on. It is too powerful to try a frontal attack.
There are two reasons we must flee youthful lusts. The first is that the flesh is a very strong force that you will grow to respect. It is good that you have a proper respect for the flesh and its capabilities. You may never know what you are capable of doing till you have done it. It is therefore best to keep the flesh contained and directed. Those who take their flesh for granted will live to regret it! The flesh is your door to sin and disgrace.
The second reason for fleeing youthful lusts is that tampering with the flesh causes it to develop certain tastes, and creates an abnormal form of “monster flesh” that is even more difficult to control. The “monster flesh” that is created through serial fornication, pornography, masturbation and homosexual contact is very difficult to control.
A true pastor will have compassion for anyone who struggles with these temptations. Many people who have tampered with their flesh have developed weird desires and tendencies.
There will always be powers that you cannot defeat by a direct confrontation. This is where the art of dodging evil comes in!
